Can I get a 64 bit version of my launch day disc? [Also]
Hiya, I hate to keep beating this horse but I, like several others here, recently attended the Microsoft "New Efficiency" seminar and was also given a copy of Windows7 Ultimate 32-bit and would like to get a 64-bit version instead. As has been already noted, the key works with both versions so it is really just a matter of obtaining the media. I have seen the proposed address (seeWindows 64 bit Media) to send the disc back to MS but I haven't seen a confirmation that this is the correct procedure. The email quoted all over these threads has a deadline of 2 weeks after that event (from 2 weeks ago). Do later events have the same 2 week opportunity? It's not clear. I'd hate to send Juliana/Javier my disc for no reason. Alternately, MS could allow us access to download an ISO (since we already have the key). (To be sure, though, there's some humor in presenting the tech-heads of a region with the 32-bit disc only). Thanks much, ScottCA

Hi Scott,I'm expecting some clarification very soon on what the correct procedure is to swap your disc from the New Efficiency seminars. When I get that info, I'll post it in this forum. I'll try to have it marked as a "sticky" post so that it stays on the first page. Thanks,MarkWant to know if your current hardware & software will work with Windows 7? Hi, Please refer to the following thread, it seems that you can compose an email message and send it to: tne64@microsoft.com http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprogeneral/thread/307ed269-37e2-4685-b60e-dfc8c436e066 Good Luck! Vivian Xing - MSFT

Another thing you mayfind interestingis if you do not have the 64 bit disk now when you do happen to obtain it you may use the same key that wassupplied with the 32 bit Ultimate disk to activatea 64bit Ultimate disk.

Thanks for the feedback Brad! You didn't come across an email address for Juliana, did you? Please don't send email directly to her. I'm still waiting for more information on the right process to request this disc. Sorry for the delay.Want to know if your current hardware & software will work with Windows 7? Thanks, Mark. No problem with the delay. I was only moving ahead because the thread was marked "answered" so I didn't know if you were coming back. I'll wait to hear what you learn then. And thanks much!CA

Apparently the "right" process is to mail the disc to the address provided. I received my 64 bit disc from Microsoft yesterday! Glad that worked, but I think the process is changing. Looks like updated info on that process is still a few days away. Sorry for the delay.Want to know if your current hardware & software will work with Windows 7? An update for other concerned folks:It took a couple weeks but I did receive a reply from an email sent to the tne64@microsoft.com address. The reply was from Juliana Tioanda who said that they were "in the process of having more 64-bit DVDs pressed" presumably just for us. The new process, as Mark suggested, sounds different: I won't be mailing in the old 32-bit disk. The new 64-bit disks will not come with a key, apparently, so I'll need the key from the disk already distributed. (This makes much more sense).I would suggest to others wanting to do thiscontact the team through the tne64@microsoft.com address. They asked me for name, address and phone number so I would be sure to include those in your email. And, like I said, it took a couple weeks for a response so relax, be patient, and wait for instructions from them. CA

Most of this has already been covered in this thread, but here's a link to a FAQ that I got from the TNE folks:http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprogeneral/thread/8dac2b35-20c3-4226-adc7-fe5886e15e86Want to know if your current hardware & software will work with Windows 7?
